We sleep in late enough that we abandon our plans to visit
the Big Buddha on Landau island near the airport. Instead, we head across Kowloon to the Sky
100 observation deck which is almost 400m above sea level in an office
tower. The views from the windows are
stunning.

Returning to the Mira, we ask the concierge about a taxi,
but he indicates we would need two cabs for us and all the luggage. He says it’s unlikely we could get a van
taxi, but suggests ordering a 7-person vehicle on Uber. I wasn’t aware that was an option, and hadn’t
used the Uber app for so long that my stored credit card had expired, so I have
to re-enter the information. Within 10
minutes a Toyota van arrives with a very nice driver who helps load our
luggage. We ride to the airport in
comfort, at a cost of only $100 HK more than the taxi ride cost.
We chill in an airport lounge and marvel that, once again,
we lucked out with virtually no line up at security, immigration, or the airline
check-in counter.
